Project Goals
Situational Awareness Institute is a consulting and training business, which equips organizations to prevent and survive active killer scenarios. As a startup, they had created a website on their own and were interested in a more user-friendly interface.
Our goal was to restyle the website and rework the copy to fit their target audience of corporate human resources. Several pages would be consolidated, and the training page would be divided into onsite and online trainings. We would then develop the online course, including production of video training modules. In addition, the owner produced weekly vlogs, so a Blog would be set up with SEO-targeted transcripts to increase leads.
User-Friendly Design
SAI had several pages with content on their existing website, however, it was not mobile-responsive and their logo was unreadable at a small scale. The homepage layout was busy, without a clear flow and call-to-action. In addition, the high-contrast white text on a black background was difficult to read.
We rebuilt the website using WordPress and Thrive Themes, which allows for device-responsive design. We created a simplified, horizontal version of their logo that would look equally good on mobile devices, laptops, and monitors. Pages were styled using clean white and gray backgrounds with added accents of black and maroon.
Copywriting
Situational Awareness Institute is a business centered on public speaking. Despite the serious and unfortunately timely subject matter, the owner has a dynamic, approachable presence that effectively engages his audience. Our goal was to translate his speaking style and knowledge into website copy that communicates confidence, trust and expertise to potential clients.
Blog & SEO
Blogs and vlogs are a great way to increase traffic to a website. SAI was already posting a weekly tips video to social media, so we embedded the videos into blog posts. SEO-optimized transcripts provide content readable by search engines. Social share buttons allow the videos to be shared from the blog, driving traffic to the website.
Online Training Course
Once the main website was redesigned, we turned to online course development. Our team was able to advise on lighting, video, and editing in order to create video-based training modules. Our online course software allows clients to pay, enroll, and complete coursework on-demand from any web-connected device.
